BLU unveils Life Pure smartphone with 5

BLU has unveiled its latest smartphone, the elegant-looking Life Pure.

The new handset, BLU's most expensive and advanced device to date, comes with a 5-inch, 1080p display (441 ppi), 32GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, and a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek chip. Running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (no, not 4.3), the Life Pure packs a 13-megapixel rear camera with a 5-megapixel one on the front. It also comes with a 2000mAh battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and advanced smart gesture and motion sensor technology. Available colors include matte black and ceramic white, the Miami-based company said.

Incorporated DTS surround audio technology should ensure decent sound quality, with other audio-related enhancements including dual-mic noise cancellation and stereo recording.

The attractive package is set to sell for $349 unlocked when it hits the market - according to the company, the Life Pure is 'already in production and shipping to several distributors, dealers, and online retailers in the US and Latin America.' BLU's range of smartphones available via Amazon currently sell for between $59 (Dash) and $269 (Life View), with the Life Pure looking set to appear alongside these soon. Overall the company currently has almost 20 Android smartphones on the market.

BLU has launched a number of low-cost handsets with modest specs this year, though this latest device is certainly a cut above those offerings, with, for example, its pixel-packed screen and increased on-board storage. The company is keen to highlight its new 5-element-lens rear shooter too, describing it as its 'most advanced 13MP camera ever in a BLU device.'

With its slim 7.7mm profile and clean good looks, the new handset is certainly easy on the eye, and could prove a hit with smartphone users looking for a powerful yet reasonably priced unlocked device.
