Microsoft slated to unveil and release Office for Mac Computers next year ...

The long wait is finally over, well sort of, but you still have to wait until next year as Microsoft has just announced its plans of releasing the versatile and widely-used Office software package for Mac desktop computers.

While you wait you might like to get busy with one of the parts of the Office software - the Outlook email program - via the company's Office 365 subscription service, which is priced at US$100 per year. Yes you heard it right the company has just announced release of the versatile Outlook email program in a blog post last October 31 and minced these words, '[Outlook] offers a more familiar and consistent experience between Outlook on the PC, Outlook on the web and Outlook Web App (OWA) for iPad, iPhone and Android devices'.

The complete Office bundle for Macs could have been due this year, one year after it whips up the new version for Windows. But until now there is no new version for Macs since four years ago and the new Windows software has been released for one year and a half already. The delay is caused by Microsoft being too busy with coming up with the Office versions for smartphones and tablets.

The company said it will release a public beta version of Office for Macs which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote in the second quarter of next year and will release the final version in the last quarter of next year.
