Microsoft Rolls Out New Lync to Skype Video Calling

Microsoft announced that from now onwards Skype users can effortlessly start a video call for their Lync Contacts.

Earlier, the company allowed instant messaging and voice over-IP connection between Lync and Skype. The video chat was the only feature left between the two online call services.

Fortunately, the process of video call is similar to the normal call. Users are not required to update or install anything for this purpose.

Microsoft has enabled video calling for the users of Android, iOS and Windows. In comparison, Skype is only supported for Windows Pc. The software firm is now planning to expand the facility for other Skype users as well.

Elaine Ansell stated that it signifies that the users of Lync and Skype can get in touch with more partners, customers and co-workers. The announcement paves the way for business users of Lync. They can connect with more than 300 million people through video.

Earlier, the largest software developer declared that it intends to shut down the Lync brand till the beginning of 2015. The firm plans to swap Lync with Skype for Business.

Therefore, it can be said that the new video calling facility of Lync and Skype is a step towards the business Skype.

Moreover, it demonstrates that the change of Lync with business Skype is much more than merely a new brand name. Microsoft expects to form new links between its consumer products and its business products.

The Skype for Business sounds pretty similar to the Microsoft One drive. The company has also rolled out two different version of it i.e.: OneDrive and OneDrive for business users.
