Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6 Plus to assist United Airlines Attendants


Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6 Plus in the hands of United Airlines Attendants is soon going to change the way you fly with this airline.


Sam Risoli, the Senior Vice President of United Airlines inflight services, while making the announcement, remarked that the smartphone will replace much of the paper-work of its attendants, besides improving the services they deliver.


He added that by the end of the next quarter, each of its 23,000 flight attendants will be assigned an iPhone 6 Plus for routine services. The phablet is expected to allow attendants to access valuable work on a one-touch basis.


The iPhone 6 Plus will be deployed to access information as well as enable better customer service. The United Airlines official added further that the company hopes to include or develop other 'customer-focused tools' that will allow its on-board attendant to offer better flying experience.


Additionally, the airline announced that following the success of its pilot program using the iPad, it will commission the latest version of the tablet, the iPad Air. The mission is to enable 'move toward creating paperless aircraft and flight decks,' the official remarked.


As organizations explore the transition to technology-based tools, major technology companies such as Apple Inc. and International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) are further expanding their software verticals to include specialized features.


Both of the companies will now offer 10 new applications aimed at enterprise use, for the iPad and the iPhone. Of these 10, two applications are specifically developed for the travel industry, a source confirmed. The applications, named Plan Flight and Passenger+, are aimed at enhancing airline services.


Meanwhile, United Airlines says that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus will be used by its attendants to conduct onboard activities, which include retail transactions as well as accessing company email. The smartphone would also be used to access the website of the airline besides connect to the internal network. It will be used view airline manual, procedures, as well as policies. It will replace the paper manuals and report aircraft cabin issues, receive follow-up on repairs, in the near future.
