Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini: Does It Stand A Chance Against The Freshly ...

There have been lots of rumors lately about the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini, especially that the Galaxy K Zoom (Galaxy S5 Zoom) was already announced. But from what we know now, will this be able to take on the recently announced HTC One mini 2?

From previous reports from GSM Arena, the Galaxy S5 mini would be just like what the Galaxy S4 mini was a year ago - a lower end Android device that has similarities with the current flagship in terms of design. However, the target market is completely different.

While the Samsung Galaxy S5 is aimed directly at the enterprise and corporate market group, the Galaxy S5 mini would likely be promoted in the entry-level market which include first-time Android users as well as most students.

So what does the Galaxy S5 mini boast? Several reports from BGR claim that the Android-powered handset would feature a slightly smaller Super AMOLED screen at 4.5 inches, with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset, a quad-core CPU of unknown frequency, and 1.5GB of RAM.

Other rumored specs include 16GB of internal memory with microSD card slot expansion, an 8MP primary camera, and a 2MP front facing camera to manage selfies and video calls.

Additional specs which have been tipped about the Galaxy S5 include the usual connectivity functions like Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, and Wi-Fi.

The Galaxy S5 mini will allegedly run on Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box, which is the staple even among midrange devices coming from top manufacturers.

But would these specs match up with the HTC One mini 2? The midrange device from the Taiwanese manufacturer packs the same 4.5-inch 720p display, the same quad-core CPU and Snapdragon variant. However, the HTC One mini2 has a huge advantage in the camera department.

The One mini 2 packs a 13MP 'regular' camera at the back and a 5MP front shooter. Meanwhile, alleged specs of the Galaxy S5 mini point to a higher 1.5GB RAM.

One possible way for the Samsung device to sell better is to attach a more affordable price tag. The HTC One mini 2 is said to cost much higher than was expected according to recent reports, so Samsung could use it to their advantage.
