Google to offer home security cameras soon

Google is said to be planning to acquire Dropcam, a home security camera company based in San Francisco.


The security camera firm provides a camera that is connected to the Internet for $150.


A special app is available to control the device that enables users to see live video feeds, zoom and record video footage. Moreover, the Dropcam camera features a two-way talk back, night vision option and digital zoom as reported by the The Information tech blog.


The tech blog also said that according to sources close to Google, its Nest division is planning go into the home-security market and has thought of buying Dropcam to speed up the realization of the plan.


Recently, Google acquired Nest, a thermostat company.


This move was said to be done as its competitor, Apple, is getting ready to transform the iPad into a universal remote that controls washing machines, televisions and even lights, said the tech blog.
