Apple actually wants Iovine, Dr. Dre through Beats deal

New reports have suggested that Apple is actually looking to 'acqui-hire' Beats cofounders Jimmy Iovine and Andre Romelle Young aka Dr. Dre and not the technology associated with streaming music or headphones through Beats deal.

According to earlier reports Apple is going to acquire Beats for a whopping $3.2 billion and latest reports claim that Apple is paying this price not for Beats' technology, but for talent of the Iovine and Dre duo.

'They want Jimmy and they want Dre,' said a source to TechCrunch. 'He's got fashion and culture completely locked up.'

According to the source, the deal has a 70 percent chance of going through; however this tie-up had nearly fallen through the cracks multiple times. The source further added that the deal will happen as it 'hasn't fallen apart yet'.

Looking at Tim Cook's recent moves of poaching big names from big brands to fill Apple's executive and managerial posts, chances are that the latest report about acqui-hire may turn out to be true.

Apple recently hired Angela Ahrendts from Burberry; former CEO of Yves St. Laurent, Paul Deneve; Nike's Ben Shaffer and others indicating that Cook is after a team of highly experienced and skilled managers and Iovine and Dre duo possess exactly those skills.

There have been reports that Iovine will be appointed as a special advisor to Tim Cook, but there have been no substantial proofs to support this claim.
