Twitter introduces web notifications

Twitter officially announced that it would start to offer in-browser notifications on the web for replies, favorites, retweets, follows and Direct Messages.

It seems Twitter is overhauling itself quickly to enrich user experience. After releasing new photo centric web profile designs, it's bringing real-time notifications on twitter.com. When someone interacts with your tweets, notifications will pop up making easier for users to stay connected with the relevant stuff.

In a blog post Twitter posted, 'When you're logged in on twitter.com, you will receive notifications if someone has replied, favorited or retweeted one of your Tweets. You can also receive notifications for direct messages and new followers. They're fully interactive, so that you can reply, favorite, retweet, and follow right from the notification.'

In order to get the web notifications, user need to check your settings on twitter.com and you can choose what type of notifications you want to see. If you don't want these notifications, know that there is indeed a way to turn it off. Just uncheck all the boxes and hit save but there is rare chance that twitter lover would do it.

Web notifications are distinct from email or mobile apps notification. However, to get these options, you should've this feature that will be rolled out over the coming weeks. Push notifications received through Twitter app can also be refined from settings.

Twitter was experimenting with these notifications since January and finally introduced it. Lately, it launched Facebook like web profiles with larger images and filter for tweets. With these notifications. I fear in the near future we might see Twitter introducing sound notifications just the Facebook.
