Display, Weight & Thickness

The Galaxy S4 has a larger 5 inches Super AMOLED screen, with a resolution of 1,920 × 1,020 pixels with natural and vibrant colors while the Moto X has a slightly smaller 4.7 inches AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,280 × 720 pixels.


Both the phones weigh an average of 136 g. The thickness of the Galaxy S4 is 0.31 inches whereas the Moto X has a relatively thicker body with 0.41 inches. Both the phones come with light sensor, proximity sensor, and scratch-resistant glass.


Hardware & Software

The Motorola Moto X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core S4 SoC processor clocked at 1.7GHz and it comes with a 2GB of RAM. On the other hand, the Samsung S4 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor clocked at 1.9GHz which houses a 2GB of RAM.


Both the phones run on v4.4.2 KitKat, the difference is in the interface, the Galaxy S4 uses the TouchWiz UI of Samsung while the Moto X offers pure, near-stock experience.


Camera

Galaxy S4 sports a superior camera specification with a whopping 13 MP (LED Flash) rear facing camera and a 2 MP front facing camera. Whereas the Moto X houses a 10 MP (LED Flash) rear facing camera and a 2 MP front facing camera. The Galaxy S4 has a Dual Shot option that can compile videos by using both front and rear cameras. In addition, the Galaxy S4 supports digital image stabilization.


Memory

Samsung Galaxy S4 comes with a 16GB of internal storage and provides the option to expand up to 64GB with the help of a microSD card, whereas the Moto X offers a 16GB of internal storage with no expansion capability.


Battery

The Galaxy S4 houses a efficient 2600 mAh battery that provides 17 hours of charge under 3G talk-time while the Moto X comes with a 2200 mAh battery that gives 11 to 12 hours of charge under 3G talk-time.


SIM

The Moto X supports Nano-Sim while the Galaxy S4 supports Micro-sim but there is no Dual-Sim option in both the phones.


Color

The Moto X comes in black and white shades whereas the Galaxy S4 provides a wide range of options like black, blue, white, red, pink, purple, gold and brown shades.
