'Dark Souls II' Is Coming To PS4, Xbox One In 'Scholar Of The First Sin'
Dark Souls II is coming to new-gen next April, publisher Bandai Namco has announced.
The game will feature a number of changes and improvements, and will include all the previously released DLC as well as new story content and characters.
The game is being re-released as Dark Soul II: Scholar of the First Sin.
Scholar of the First Sin will be sold as a complete game on PS4 and Xbox One as well as PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. On all these platforms, the game will include:
Additional NPCs added for an enhanced story experience. Parameter adjustments for improved game balance. Augmented item descriptions. Improved online matchmaking functionality.
Owners of the game on PS3 and Xbox 360 will receive these improvements in a patch.
On new-gen and DX11 PCs, FromSoft is also improving graphics, performance, and sound, as well as increasing total number of players in multiplayer to six.
The addition of new NPCs and augmented item descriptions are among the most interesting to me (as a largely single-player fan of the series who only dips into MP from time to time, or when inevitability strikes.) The items felt lackluster and devoid of lore through much of the sequel-at least compared to the first Dark Souls.
I'm not sure more NPCs will make the game better, but if they add more interesting storylines to the game, I'll take it. The fact that Scholar of the First Sin comes with all the DLC trilogy is especially excellent news, however, since the DLC is the very best part of the game, boasting better story, level-design and enemies.
