Bentley Grand Convertible Rendered as a Coupe

Two of the biggest highlights of this year;s Los Angeles Auto Show were the Bentley Grand Convertible and Audi A9 (Prologue). Turns out they have more in common than it first appears, as the roof of the Prologue fits perfectly on the Bentley!

It was a discovery by independent designer Theophilus Chin who was thinking about rendering a Bentley Gran Coupe to go with the Convertible, and realized the perfect roof to use for this job is the one on the Prolouge. Both these, after all, have roots in the VW Group.

Anyway, the hardtop Bentley Grand Convertible, or Gran Coupe, can be considered as a successor to a whole bunch of models such as the Arnage or Brooklands. It could also make a fab luxury coupe on its own and take on the Rolls-Royce Wraith.

It is not clear yet what Bentley is planning to do with the Grand Convertible, let alone a Coupe version. But historically, when Bentley launches a new model they tend to explore all possible ways of making more money out of it, which means launching a number of different variants. Take the Continental, for example. You have the W12 and V8 models; the coupe and the convertible; Speed; Supersport; and most recently GT3-R.
