How to use your blackberry phone as a modem for your pc

Blackberry phones can be used as modem on laptop or desktop computers, although a few people using blackberry phones are unaware of this. If you have a pc and a BB device and not have enough money to get yourself a modem, then there isn't any need to work your self up to get money for a modem, your blackberry phone can also serve as a modem for your pc. Presently the MTN blackberry BIS plan works very well on pc, this was previously stopped by the service provider but for some reason it seems to be working again although it's been capped to 3GB. In this article I will show you how to easily connect and use your blackberry device as a modem, follow the steps below:
1)      To use your BB device as a modem for your pc you must have the blackberry desktop manager software, you can get the latest version here, the CD plate usually comes with your blackberry device after purchase.
2)      After installing the BB desktop manager launch the program and connect your BB device through cable.
3)      The BB desktop manager should auto detect your BB device, but if it doesn't connect your BB device to the desktop manager, if it shows "connected" at the right hand part of the BB desktop manager screen then it is connected. Your BB pin and model should now be displayed on the manager.
4)      Now click on the "tools" tab and select mobile internet settings from the drop down menu, click on "add custom profile" to add your own network settings because Nigeria networks are not listed on the network list.
5)      Now use the below settings according to your network provider:
For MTN use-
Connection name- Mtn NG
Username- web
Password- web
APN- web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net
AIRTEL
Connection name- Airtel NG
Username- internet

GLO

Password- flat
APN- gloflat
ETISALAT

After saving the settings click on "tools" and click on "start mobile internet", if you probably haven't subscribed for any data plan then you will be charged 5kobo per KB.
You should probably be connected to the internet by now, check the down-left hand side of your BB desktop manager you should see the time connected and amount of data used, if you see that then you have successfully connected your pc to the internet using your phone as a modem now open up your browser and start surfing.
