It's a Christmas miracle: Samsung Galaxy S5 scores Android 5.0 in Europe

As Google struggled to iron out grueling Lollipop kinks on Nexus devices, and fumbled with update timelines for various GPe phones, things were starting to look rather bleak for the Android 5.0 perspectives of non-stock gadgets.

But Samsung somehow pulled off a genuine Christmas miracle, and got the Lollipop ball rolling for the TouchWiz-skinned Galaxy S5 before the S4 Google Play Edition could leave KitKat behind. How is that even possible? It's holiday magic, so it's best to simply not question it.

Hopefully, Sammy didn't rush to the OTA, and thoroughly tested the firmware beforehand. Otherwise, the Android 5.0 celebration could quickly turn into a nightmarish fiasco. Fingers crossed for the company to get a move on Lollipop upgrading waves too, as right now, only Polish users seem to be enjoying the software promotion.

By the by, what is it about Poland that makes the Central European country such a fertile ground for timely updates? And more importantly, how much does a one-way plane ticket to Warsaw cost?

After all, it'll likely be months until American S4 owners will get a taste of Lollipop goodies. By then, chances are the old continent shall see 5.0 bumps for the S4 GPe, Galaxy Note 4 and perhaps Note 3 or standard S4.

Needless to point out just how major an overhaul Android 5.0 is, with its Material Design aesthetical tweaks, wide-scale performance improvements and added 64-bit support. Too bad the S5 is powered by a 32-bit processor. Fret not though, as as 64-bit-capable Galaxy S6 is nigh.
