HP EliteBook Folio 1020 ultrabook lineup unveiled

HP has introduced its new EliteBook Folio 1020 lineup, and with it comes two new business ultrabooks: the EliteBook 1020 and the EliteBook 1020 Special Edition. The maker brags its new models are the lightest and thinnest business laptops currently available, with both measuring in at 15.7mm thin and the special edition featuring a 2.2lbs weight. This is the latest expansion to HP's Elite PC products, and joining the announcement are updates to existing EliteBooks that will feature current-gen Intel Core processors, among other things.

Both the HP EliteBook 1020 and EliteBook 1020 Special Edition feature a 12.5-inch QHD display, with the standard edition model having an optional touchscreen as well. Likewise, both models feature the HP Premium Keyboard, a new offering said to give users a consistent key response. The notebooks feature front-facing speakers with DTS Studio Sound and HD Audio, as well as HP Noise Reduction software. This is rounded out with a 720p-resolution webcam.

Both standard and special editions pass MIL-STD 810G military-grade testing, offer Intel Core-M processors, SSDs, a fanless design, and up to 9 hours of battery life. True to their business nature, the laptops also have many security features, including a fingerprint reader, HP's Sure Start self-healing BIOS, pre-boot authentication, and more. Joining it all is HP Client Management Solutions, and options for Intel vPro and LANDesk.

The standard edition HP EliteBook 1020 will be arriving in February 2015, and the EliteBook 1020 Special Edition will be arriving later on in April. HP is remaining quiet on pricing for now, promising to reveal those details closer to the launch dates.
