Google Throws New Chromebook Buyers 1TB Of Drive Space In Holiday ...

Chromebooks may not come with a lot of onboard internal storage, and that's OK if you're not planning on using them for keeping heaps and heaps of data and files on the machine. On the other hand, with Chromebooks you really might not need a lot of hard drive space because you have access to Google Drive, and whenever you buy a new Chromebook Google throws you a nice large amount of free Drive storage space in the cloud for two years, at no charge whatsoever. It used to be that Google would only give you 100GB of free Drive storage space when you bought a new Chromebook. 100GB can fill up rather easily if you're storing lots of stuff, but for the average individual that's probably a ton of space.

Now Google is changing things up a bit, and giving you even more free Drive storage when you buy a new Chromebook, giving away 1TB of Drive space for two years instead of the original 100GB you'd normally get. Now, to be clear, this isn't the first time Google has given away 1TB of free Drive space. Google handed over the keys to the 1TB vault whenever you purchased a Chromebook pixel, but now they're giving away 1TB of free Google Drive storage to anyone that buys any new Chromebook, not just pixel customers.

There are a couple caveats one should know about. Google mentions the words 'eligible Chromebooks,' but they don't mention any Chromebooks specifically. So there's a chance that the offer doesn't apply to every single Chromebook. More than likely though if you're buying your Chromebook brand new as of now, you're probably getting the 1TB of Drive space regardless of which model you buy. The other detail is that this is a limited time offer. It won't run forever and Google states that you need to buy a Chromebook sometime between now and the new year, and that the offer for the 1TB of free Drive space must be redeemed before January 1st of 2015. That gives users almost a month and a half to collect a whole bunch of cloud storage space for free, and with 1TB of Drive space, Just think of all the Caturday GIFs you could store.
