Apple Watch Launch Date Revealed In New Report

Apple SVP Angela Ahrendts confirms the Apple Watch will be launched in Spring 2015

Apple Inc. ( NASDAQ:AAPL) will launch its new Watch in the Spring 2015 according to Apple Senior Vice president of Retail and Online stores Angela Ahrentds. The executive mentioned the timeline to retail employees in a video message, says a report from 9To5Mac citing a knowledgeable source.

Selling Apple Watch to be a new experience

In the video message, Ahrednts mentioned that the retailers should gear up for the shopping season. She said that that the holiday season will start soon, then Chinese New Year will come and the new watch will be launched in the Spring.

'We're going into the holidays, we'll go into Chinese New Year, and then we've got a new watch launch coming in the spring,' Ahrednts told in the video message.

Sources are also suggesting that Apple Inc. ( NASDAQ:AAPL) executives are working on retail strategies for the new category of watches. Unlike the iPhones, the Macs and the iPads, which are all plugged to the desk in a showroom, the Apple Watch will be worn by users while testing, which will be a new experience for the company's marketing team. Ahrednts believes that retail-based watch sales will strengthen the relationship with customers, which is vital for the future sales.

Suspense surrounding the launch

To date, the Cupertino, California-based company has maintained that the Apple Watch will hit retail shelves in early 2015, but offered no further specifics. There was speculation regarding the launch of the Apple Watch back in September. Then pundits began to speculate that the company will launch the Watch during Valentine's Day, which is unlikely now as the Spring officially starts March 20 th and lasts till June. According to Ahrendts' timeline, the launch will be after the Chinese New Year, so there is no possibility of the Watch coming on Valentine's Day.

There was a report in 2013 that suggested that the company is determined to launch the wearable in the fall 2014, but due to engineering hurdles the product was delayed to 2015. Thereafter, a slew of reports indicated that the battery glitch was one of the reasons for the delay in the gadget, and Apple Inc. ( NASDAQ:AAPL) is still finalizing the battery system issues, according to a report from 9To5Mac.
