Android 5.0 Lollipop to land on Samsung Galaxy S5 in December

ANDROID 5.0 LOLLIPOP will hit Samsung Galaxy S5 devices sometime in December, according to sources.

While exact dates have not yet been revealed, it seems that SamMobile has acquired some fresh information suggesting that Samsung will begin rolling out the latest Android operating system to its flagship smartphone in time for the holiday period.

Users should note, however, that it could be a month or so from the start of the initial rollout before the device gets the update in all regions, so it could be the New Year before some users get a lick of Lollipop.

Earlier this week, Samsung hinted that Android 5.0 Lollipop will arrive on its Galaxy Note 4 phablet at some point, although, typically, the firm has yet to cough as to when early Galaxy Note 4 adopters can expect the software update to appear.

While Samsung hasn't revealed its Android 5.0 Lollipop rollout plans, HTC, Motorola and Sony have been quick to spill the beans.

HTC has confirmed that Android 5.0 will come to the HTC One M8 and original HTC One, while Motorola has said that Lollipop will come to the Moto G (2013 and 2014), Moto X (2013 and 2014) the Moto E and the US-only Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini.

Sony has gone all out, announcing last week that Android 5.0 Lollipop will arrive on its entire Xperia Z line-up next year.

The full list of Sony devices set to receive the update are: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. ยต
