Toshiba's Encore Mini is a $120, 7

Microsoft may have axed the Surface Mini, but Toshiba introduced its own small tablet at IFA 2014. The Toshiba Encore Mini is a budget 7-inch tablet with Windows 8.1 onboard.

The Encore Mini sports a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 700 pixels. The tablet comes with Windows 8.1 pre-installed, along with a one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal and 1TB of free OneDrive cloud storage.

The small tablet is powered by a 1.83GHz, quad-core Intel Atom Z3735G processor and 1GB of RAM. Toshiba gave the Encore Mini just 16GB of built-in storage, but luckily, it's expandable via a MicroSD card up to 128GB.

It also has a 2-megapixel camera on the back and a VGA (.3-megapixel) front-facing camera for video calls. Toshiba says the Mini gets 7.3 hours of battery life. In terms of connectivity, the Encore Mini has Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.0. The tablet itself weighs just 12.5 ounces and is 0.43-inches thick, so it should be fairly comfortable to hold while reading or browsing the Web. It has a basic design, somewhat wide bezels, and comes in white.

Toshiba's Encore Mini costs $120 and is available now at several retailers, online, and from Toshiba's website.
