Rumor: LG To Allegedly Launch The G Watch R On October 14th

The wearables scene is about to go wild with all the new upcoming smartwatches and smart bands that are poised to hit the market this Fall. LG and Samsung have both announced new smartwatches for the Fall lineup, and even released the information prior to IFA when they were both believed to be unveiling the new devices. That didn't happen though and apparently Samsung and LG wanted a headstart. LG lead the pack by announcing first, its new smartwatch and the LG G Watch successor, the LG G Watch R. This will be their updated design of the G Watch with a more premium feel and style, and also sporting the round watch face, which will set it into the same category to directly compete with the Moto 360 for the crowd of consumers that are looking for that more traditional, and stylish round look.

The G Watch R may have been officially announced but there still no official word from LG on an exact release date for it. The cost hasn't been listed either but it had apparently leaked close to a week ago with a USD conversion equaling the price of about $394. It likely won't be that cost once it hits market and goes up for sale but it will certainly be more expensive than the original G Watch. The leak on the price is met today with a rumor about the potential launch date of LG's new device, which according to the WSJ is going to be October 14th. This is according to someone working for LG who spoke about it at the IFA conference in Berlin.

That puts the release of the watch at about a month and a half out, so we still have some time before we might potentially get our hands on this new piece of tech. The G Watch R will be running Android Wear like its predecessor, and come with a more premium design which will be the reason for the higher cost. On the inside the G Watch R is sporting a Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor, and packs 512MB of RAM with 4GB of internal storage for apps. Although we allegedly have the release date, it appears that LG hadn't commented on which regions the watch will launch in on that date. Are you looking forward to LG's next iteration of the G Watch?
