Deezer enters US market with Elite lossless service

Streaming music service Deezer has announced its first US foray with a new lossless service called Deezer Elite available exclusively to Sonos users.

Deezer Elite, the company's first streaming service in the US, will be available to Sonos customers in the US from September 15 with a 30-day free trial.

The service is billed as 'high definition' though it's actually CD quality with streams set at 16-bit/44.1kHz.

While pricing is yet to be announced Venture Beat reports that the service will be $20 a month while it says Sonos customers will be eligible for a discount at $10 a month.

Deezer joins Tidal in offering lossless streaming music to the US and UK markets, but both services face heavy competition from market leaders Spotify and Pandora, though neither offer a lossless service.

We have contacted Deezer to inquire when the service will be available to non-Sonos users and will update this story with its reply.
