Infiniti looking to trademark 'Eau Rouge' in the U.S.

In what is arguably the biggest tease in Infiniti's recent history, the automaker has reportedly begun the process to trademark the 'Eau Rouge' nameplate in the U.S.

As if the functional, driveable concept wasn't enough evidence, this means the Q50 Eau Rouge is another step closer to production, despite the fact the automaker has stopped short of an official confirmation.

According to Automotive News, the trademark application was filed back in January, but is still being considered by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. As you may know, Eau Rouge is an uphill corner on Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps racetrack, as well as the name of a stream that crosses through the course.

The Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge was introduced earlier this year at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It is powered by the Nissan GT-R's twin-turbocharged V6, but tuned to produce 560 horsepower and 442 lb.-ft. of torque.
