HP Stream 14 is a $200 Windows 8.1 Chromebook rival

THE HP STREAM 14 reportedly will be the first Google Chromebook killer, with the Windows 8.1 device tipped be priced at $199.

That's according to a leak at Mobilegeeks, which has revealed all there is to know about the HP Stream 14, including the fact that it likely will arrive running Windows 8.1 with Bing, a crippled version of Microsoft's operating system for low-end devices.

As its name suggests, the HP laptop will have a 14in screen witt 1366x768 resolution, a feature ubiquitous on Chrome OS devices, and will be powered by an AMD processor with 2GB of RAM. The laptop will also come with either 32GB or 64GB of flash storage, according to the leak, along with a slot for an SD card.

In addition, Mobilegeeks reported that Microsoft will chuck in 100GB of Onedrive storage for two years with every purchase of the HP Stream 14 laptop to lure punters away from the similar 100GB of Drive storage that Google offers with every Chromebook.

Other leaked specifications include an HD webcam, Beats Audio, one USB 3.0 port, two USB 3.0 ports and AMD Radeon R3 graphics. The HP Stream 14 could be let down by its battery life though, as the leak reported that it likely will last between 'four to five hours'.

There's no word on a release date for the HP Stream 14 yet, but it likely will cost less than $200 when it does arrive.
