Flappy Bird developer launches new Swing Copters game

From the heights of Flappy Bird's success to its removal and eventual return to the app store, we've long followed developer Dong Nguyen's story. Today, he 'swings' back with a new game available for iOS and Android, dubbed as Swing Copters.

Swing Copter's game mechanics resemble Flappy Bird's, though it's on a vertical playfield. It's also brutally challenging, as the player taps the screen for full control. As the description says, 'Flying with a propeller hat is not as easy as it looks,' and players must tap the screen for the propeller to change direction all the way to the top to earn points. (Got my best score already...for one point.)

'Tap to change direction,' is easier said than done, which makes the game challenging just like its predecessor, but in a vertical direction. If the player fails to tap the screen 'strategically,' the copter falls and is required to repeat the game. The goal is to propel to the top without hitting the irons and swinging bars.

Swing Copters is available for free (with banner ads for monetization) in the App Store and Google Play, and supports Game Center for the leaderboards and achievements. To remove banner ads, it'll cost $0.99 as an in-app purchase.
