Samsung mocks iPhone using 'wall huggers' in latest Galaxy S5 advert

SAMSUNG HAS TAKEN A LEAF from its own book and has taken a dig at iPhone users in its latest Galaxy S5 advert.

The new advert, called 'Wall Hugger', shown below, aims a dig at the iPhone's battery life while promoting the Samsung Galaxy S5's Ultra Power Saving Mode and removable battery. The ad depicts sad iPhone users sitting along walls in an airport as they charge their iOS devices, looking enviously at those wielding Samsung's latest flagship smartphone.

The narrator says, 'There they are. Clustered around power outlets, near the recycling bins, stained carpeting, and bathrooms. Tethered to the wall. Denied the freedom to enjoy even the most basic things, like grabbing a drink, or sharing a laugh with your co-workers. Or sitting with someone you know. You're stuck here until your battery says so.'

'Don't be a wall hugger,' one Galaxy S5 user says in the advert, borrowing a remark from Blackberry CEO John Chen, who back in March also blasted iPhone users as wall huggers. Ironically, Chen on Thursday took a stab at Samsung, blasting its Knox security software that soon will be integrated into Android.

This isn't the first time that Samsung has taken a dig at Apple in its commercials. Most recently, the firm not only took down Apple, but also Microsoft and Amazon, in an advert for its Galaxy Tab Pro series of tablets.

In the advert, Samsung made fun of the iPad's lack of split-screen multitasking, the Surface's 'laptop' like appearance and the Amazon Kindle tablet's lack of applications. ยต
