LG G Watch Release Date, Review: Specs Of Android Wear Smartwatch Incl ...

LG G Watch release date, review: The Android Wear smartwatch is now available and users can purchase the device via Google Play. Specs of the $229 wearable include a 1.65-inch display, 512MB RAM, and a 1.2GHz processor.

In a review by Tech Crunch, it noted that the LG G Watch delivers a lot of great features for an Android Wear. These include a design that allows the platform running the gadget to shine. But the site noted too, however, that there's plenty of room for improvement and overall, the hardware falls short.

The LG G Watch has a basic rectangle shape that offers little in the way of flair, but is the perfect look for an OS that is likewise designed around offering up bare essentials instead of unnecessary extras.

Like in all smartwatches, the screen is the ultimate gem in the overall look of the wearable. It's also what Google's wearable OS needs to show off its potential benefit to consumers. The entire concept of Android Wear is to provide users with something that feels organic and that recedes out of mind when not needed or in use. The G Watch enables that experience in its hardware, especially with its black variant. There's even no physical button around the unit.

Overall, the design of the smartwatch is spare but not devoid of care or attention. The durable stainless steel body of the G Watch is light on the wrist, comfortable and well constructed. The 22mm rubber strap of the smartwatch is also easy to fasten and size, but can be swapped with a standard strap of your choice.

The Android Wear running the LG G Watch is mostly a joy to use, Tech Crunch describes. Google has concentrated in the essentials, allowing all notifications from your Android smartphone or tablet through the watch without any change needed from developers.

You can also launch any app from where you receive notifications right from the LG G Watch. Replying to messages from various apps is also possible, particularly with Google-made apps like Hangouts.

More apps are expected to be available for Android Wear users, including some coming from Duolingo, Glympse, and Allthecooks.

The LG G Watch's battery is said to last for more than a day in one charge, allowing full day use for you.

Like all first generation devices, the LG G Watch leaves a number of things for improvement, like the fact that the screen has banding issues and harder to read in direct sun. As we anticipate and wait for its second iteration, it may not be a bad idea to exercise some patience if you'd like a better LG wearable.
