Moto G Vs Moto X: Specs and price comparison

After a hiatus of almost two years, Motorola is back. And Bang! What a wave it has created with the launch of its much talked about and anticipated budget smartphone, Moto G.

Launched on February 6 after much fanfare, the Moto G, available exclusively on Flipkart for two weeks, was reportedly sold out within 15 minutes of its launch on the retailing site.

Considering that it is priced at a mere Rs 12,499 for the 8GB variant and Rs 13,999 for the 16GB with features such as 4.5-inch HD display, 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 GB of RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat, Moto G is indeed one of the best budget smartphones under the Rs 15,000/ category.

And keeping up with the over whelming success of Moto G, Motorola went ahead with the second round of its smartphone launch in the market with the Moto X priced at Rs 23,999.

Moto X also boasts of some great features such a 4.7-inch AMOLED 720p HD screen, 1.7Ghz quad-core Adreno 320 GPU processor, 16GB memory, 2GB RAM, 10MP rear camera, etc.

And as these two smartphones are from one family, comparisons are likely to be drawn. But again, comparing them is really tough considering they are completely different phones with their own unique features. Nevertheless, let's take a look at some of the major specifications of the phones.

DISPLAY:

Moto G comes with a 4.5-inch HD (IPS LCD) display while the Moto X comes with a slightly bigger screen of 4.7-inch and with AMOLED 720p HD display. Moreover, both come with a 720 x 1280 pixels resolution. However, Moto G has a higher pixel density with 326ppi to Moto X's 312ppi.

OPERATING SYSTEM:

Both the smartphones from Motorola run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. However, both the phones will have to be upgraded to avail the latest Google operating system and it is a 'guaranteed' upgradation available with the phones.

PROCESSOR:

Moto G is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 graphics while the Moto X is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960Pro Snapdragon.

MEMORY:

Both the phones from Motorola boasts of large internal memories. While the Moto G comes in two variants of 8GB and 16GB internal memories, the Moto X comes with16GB. However, none of the memories of the phones are expandable as there are no slots for microSD cards.

CAMERA:

Moto G comes with a 5 MP (2592 ? 1944 pixels) autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a front camera of 1.3MP that can record HD videos of 720p@30fps. In this section, Moto X fares better with a 10MP (4320 x 2432 pixels) autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front camera that can record a HD video of 1080p@30fps.

RAM:

Moto X leads in this section too with 2GB RAM to Moto G's 1GB RAM.

BATTERY:

Moto G comes with a non-removable Li-Ion 2070 mAh battery that Motorola claims to give a full day of usage which includes calls, videos, internet, etc. The only negative part could be that it is non-removable. On the other hand, Moto X comes with a Li-Ion 2200 mAh battery that the company claims gives upto 13 hours of talktime on 2G.

PRICE:

One factor that always decides which smartphone one should buy. Here, it is not worth comparing the two considering that Moto G is a budget smartphone while the Moto X is of a higher class. Nevertheless. Moto G is priced at Rs 12,499 for the 8GB variant and Rs 13,999 for the 16GB variant while the Moto X has been priced at Rs 23,999 while the ones with wooden covers have been priced at 25,999.
