Announced alongside the company's Idol 2 range of Android-powered handsets is the Pop Fit , a 2.8-inch 'wearable' handset designed for fitness buffs. While it may not have the fastest specs (and feels decidedly low-end in specs), the handset does have a few things going for it.

For a start, since it's designed for exercise, the phone comes with the RunKeeper app pre-installed. It's also meant to be a music player, and comes packing either 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage.

Included out-of-the-box are four interchangeable covers that lets you customise the color of your handset. JBL earphones are also provided, and because you're suppose to wear it, an armband is included as well. Lastly, a translucent flip cover is also bundled and has touch sensitive keys for controlling music playback.

When I tried out the handset, I wasn't too impressed with its plasticky build quality, and the dual-core 1GHz processor just doesn't make the cut in my book. The tiny 2.8-inch QVGA (160x120-pixels) feels really outdated in this day and age. If you just need a phone for running and don't intend to play any games or get work done on the tiny screen, then you should be fine.

Lastly, while it can't take a dunk, the Pop Fit comes with a splash resistant water coating. That should be useful if you get caught in bad weather while out on a run.

Outlook

The Alcatel One Touch Pop Fit is set for a launch in May globally and will retail for 89 Euros without a subsidy.
